Sadler’s Wells and Dance United co-produced Destino in March 2009 – a landmark collaboration between the worlds of professional and non-professional dance.
The theme of Destino - the power of art to transform lives - is manifest in the real-life story of the two featured dancers: Junaid Jemal Sendi and fellow Ethiopian dancer Addisu Demissie share a powerful history as disadvantaged youth on the streets of Addis Ababa whose path to the Sadler’s Wells stage was arranged by the founders of Dance United in Ethiopia.

Dance United's unique approach began with this project in Addis Ababa. Its campaign for social inclusion includes innovative dance programmes to help people in custody in four British prisons.
Destino includes choreography by Dance United’s choreographers, Tara-Jane Herbert and Susannah Broughton, Junaid (Yemot Guzo: The Journey to Death), as well as works by Hofesh Shechter, as well as Russell Maliphant and Adam Benjamin.
