Renowned Nigerian writer and Nobel Prize laureate Wole Soyinka, will introduce young Australian novelist Tara June Winch, and discuss her work with readings from some of her recent writing and work in progress. Tara began writing at the age of 17 and published her first novel, Swallow the Air, in 2006, winning several prestigious Australian awards.

DANCE: JIŘÍ KYLIÁN PRESENTS JASON AKIRA SOMMA

Celebrated Czech choreographer Jiří Kylián will introduce the premiere of a work in progress by Jason Akira Somma, performed by 90-year-old dancer Frances Wessels and cellist Chris Lancaster. The result of Jason’s experiments with a variety of media during his mentoring year, the piece will mix live performance of dance and music with real-time video and sound manipulation.

THEATRE: KATE VALK PRESENTS NAHUEL PEREZ BISCAYART

On a rare visit to London, The Wooster Group, known internationally for their groundbreaking experiments in theatre, will showcase the talent of 23-year-old Argentinian actor Nahuel Perez Biscayart alongside his mentor Kate Valk and Wooster Group members Ari Fliakos and Scott Shepherd in the UK premiere of a new short work, I Am Jérôme Bel, directed by Elizabeth LeCompte.

MUSIC: YOUSSOU N’DOUR PRESENTS AURELIO MARTÍNEZ

Rolex presents a unique concert, the London debut of young Honduran musician Aurelio Martínez and his band. Aurelio, recognised for his powerfully evocative voice, began his career performing with the legendary Andy Palacio. He has emerged as a bright new star, a champion of the threatened Garifuna culture of Central America that fuses African and Caribbean-Indian roots.

The evening will begin with an introduction by world music specialist Charlie Gillett, and include a specially commissioned short film about Martínez, shot on location in his home country and during his visit to Senegal to work with his mentor, Youssou N’Dour.
