Federico León’s second feature film, Estrellas, screened at the 60th Locarno International Film Festival in August 2007. The festival, which takes place in an idyllic Swiss lakeside town, was an appropriate venue for the film about a Buenos Aires shantytown that embarks on an industrious artistic project.
León’s film chronicles a group of inhabitants of Villa Miseria 21 as they discover that by playing themselves and using their homes as film sets they can find an outlet for artistic expression and make money.
