Thao-Nguyen Phan

December 2016 - Thao-Nguyen Phan, 2016-2017 Visual arts protégée

Vietnamese visual arts protégée Thao-Nguyen Phan says that art is a basic need. She believes that it is transformative - that writing, composing, filmmaking, painting, sculpting, designing… are activities that bring humanity to this world. “I come from a country with limited infrastructure for the arts – for me to be able to make art is extremely lucky. I hope to use this opportunity to realize my first solo exhibition and to share the knowledge that I will obtain from the mentorship with younger artists,” she says.
